Ballad of Curtis Thorn - by D. Barnes

from Ponies In Lightning by LAND O' GLORY

/

about

I give violin lessons to a girl named Holly Thorn. This song is written about her Dad and her whole family, they are a farm family with a rich tradition of livin on the farm in central North Carolina. The lyrics were no problem, just listened to Curtis tell about raising pigs and his family helping him pick corn for hog feed, and the fact that his children are so polite, all became the lyrics to Ballad of Curtis Thorn by David Barnes

lyrics

'this is the Ballad of Curtis Thorn, a harder working man has never been born, wanted some hogs put up a fence, varmints stay out, hogs stay in'
