Ponies In Lightning was written about Harker's Island and the people that make their living there, many of them 'bringin in a fresh catch' from the sea as their ancestors did. Us mainlanders will never really know what a challenging life they live......and how much they love it. I have spent a lot of time on Harker's Island thanks to some good friends of mine who share their beach house with me. I have had a lot of great experiences there and creating lyrics for the song was more or less backwards from the normal. The experiences I have had there called for a melody, the words were the experience. This CD is dedicated to Durwood, Shirley and Allen Jr. too!
lyrics
'the boats are coming in bringin a fresh catch, the men had good luck and will make some ready cash, the lighthouse keeps on turnin through the wind full of ash, keep the windows closed boys Shirley's burnin trash.'
